Hi, I’m Holly.
I started Cultivar Collective because I know what it’s like to carry a big mission with a small team. For the last three years I’ve led development for a nonprofit here in the Portland area, writing the appeals, building the donor relationships, chasing the grants, and keeping the website and emails going, often all in the same week.
Before that, I spent thirteen years as a special education teacher. Even then I was writing grants to fund programs for my students, which is where I first learned that good fundraising is really about telling the truth about the work and inviting people into it.
Teaching shaped how I consult. I’ll explain the why behind every recommendation, and I’ll make sure your team leaves with skills and systems they can keep using, so you’re not dependent on me forever.
I’ve also run my own online content and design business for more than fifteen years, so websites and digital tools are familiar ground.
I live in Oregon City and work with nonprofits across the Portland metro area and beyond.
Good fundraising is about telling the truth about the work and inviting people into it.
